Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister M. Mahidhar Reddy laid a foundation stone for a new office building for the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali and Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTMUDA) here on Saturday. It will be first ‘green’ government building in the entire State. Except a corporate house in Hyderabad, there are no green buildings of this kind in the State, the UDA officials said.
The new building is designed keeping the concepts like generating own power, reducing heat radiation inside building, eco friendly, air conditioned interiors, and treating waste water. The idea is to build an environment which is energy efficient, eco-friendly, zero carbon emission, low maintenance, and self-sustainable, said UDA vice chairman G.S.R.K.R. Vijay Kumar.
The UDA will have to shell out Rs. 16 crore to construct the green building that has provision for commercial space, parking lot, and power generation.
The UDA will be able to generate 14.88 lakh units per annum through wind and solar energy.
Stacked car parking
Of this, the UDA requirements will be around 6.7 lakh units per year. And the remaining surplus power will be connected to grid.
The parking lot will also be first of its kind the city. The UDA is planning to develop the stacked car parking facility where car over car can be parked like in developed countries. It saves lot of parking space. If the UDA requirement of 40 car space were to be excluded, the space for another 140 cars could be used to generate income.
The sale of power will generate a revenue of Rs.24.50 lakh per annum to the UDA. The showroom (commercial space) will generate an income of Rs. 2.52 crore, while the parking lot is expected to generate an income of Rs.21.60 lakh per annum taking the total revenues to Rs.2.98 crore.
