Vendors to face action for dumping trash on roads

October 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian on Monday said action would be taken against the pushcart vendors and hawkers under the Public Health Act, if they dumped trash on the roadsides.

On the sidelines of inspecting the gardening and walking tracks on the National Highway on Monday, he interacted with hawkers and pushcart vendors at Government General Hospital.

The Commissioner said the government was spending a lot on greenery on the roadsides as a means to keep the city clean for Amaravati foundation ceremony and impress the VIPs.

“By dumping the trash on the roadsides, the very purpose would get defeated,” he said. Later, inspecting the gardening works, he asked the VMC staff to complete the works by October 20.
