Ten priests of Omkaram temple and Vedic pandits will perform a three-day

The priests would begin the yagam at 11 a.m. on Friday and end it with poornahuthi at 12 noon on July 16, he told the mediapersons. He conceived the varuna yagam, as farmers of Kurnool district, particularly the western parts, were distressed due to lack of rainfall. He urged MLAs, leaders and people to witness the varuna yagam, and said he hoped it would lead to good rains.

Several farmers have rain guns and were geared up to use them in case of a good rainfall. However, the Minister was of the opinion that use of rain guns could be difficult in the near future as the groundwater did not improve and farm ponds dug were not filled due to lack of adequate rainfall.
