Varsity honours archer, gives cheque

Montessori Mahila Kalasala first year MBA student A. Ravali, who was selected to represent Indian universities recurve team in the World Universities Meet, was felicitated by Minister for Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao here on Saturday along with varsity officials. She was presented a cheque for Rs. 1, 93,640 on behalf of the university.

Krishna University is sponsoring the entire expenditure of Ms. Ravali towards, air tickets, visa fee, kit, DA during coaching camp.

University Sports Board secretary Srinivasa Rao, on behalf of physical directors of the affiliated colleges, thanked to university authorities for sponsoring Ms. Ravali, who is incidentally the first woman to participate in a world event from Machilipatnam-based university.

“She will inspire many girls too aim high in sports and games. She is leaving for Punjabi University, Patiala to attend a National camp from May 12. The event is held from June 1 to 5 at Ulaanbaatar at Mongolia,” he added.

Varsity Vice-Chancellor Sunkari Rama Krishna Rao, Registrar D. Suryachandra Rao congratulated the archer.

The selection trials to Indian university archery team were held at Punjabi University last month in which Ravali finished eighth to qualify for the Indian recurve team. She took part in the 70-m distance event..

Ravali is a product of Andhra Pradesh Sports School at Hyderabad. Presently she is taking coaching at Cherukuri Volga and Lenin Archery Academy under the guidance of Andhra Pradesh Archery Association secretary Ch. Satyanarayana.
