YSR Congress party leader Vangaveeti Radha will take up indefinite fast near his camp office on MG Road from Saturday, protesting against the Union Cabinet’s nod for bifurcation of the State. On Friday, Mr. Radha organised a rasta roko on the MG Road as part of the 72-hour Bandh call given by the YSR Congress. Vijayawada Central in-charge P. Gowtham Reddy organised a three-hour dharna outside the Sub-Collector’s office and organised bike rallies at various locations such as Governorpet, Satyanaryanapuram and BRTS road.
Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Gowtham Reddy said the agitation should be taken up in such a way that it should be able to create an atmosphere of political instability at the Centre. Elaborating he said, “the UPA government was surviving with a very thin majority and further resignation of all the 29 MPs, including the nine Ministers from Seemandhra region, would reduce it to a minority. And this is how we can stop the bifurcation of the State.” He further said, “but for it to happen, all the political parties should come onto one platform.”
