Value-based education was need of the hour, to control the atrocities against women, according to Income Tax Commissioner K. Ajay Kumar.

Information and Public Relations Regional Joint Director L. Swarnalata released a book titled ‘Atyacharala payi Akshara Poratam' penned by Income Tax additional commissioner Mundapu Prasad, here on Saturday.

On the occasion, Mr. Ajay Kumar said that message oriented books were required to the youth in the light of increasing atrocities against women. It was indeed laudable that reasons behind the atrocities and measures to tackle it were brought out as a book. Many lives were spoiled due to atrocities committed in a fit of rage. The victims' and accused' families equally suffer, he said.

The tradition, culture and values should be taught right from primary education. The youth could be mould into better citizens by teaching moral values apart from regular curriculum, he said.

‘Rise in atrocities'

Ms. Swarnalatha said that women need to be awakened to prevent atrocities on them. The awakening programmes should be taken up at village level. There was a rise in atrocities due to abuse of intoxicants and drugs. The women would succeed in a sphere of life if they march ahead with self confidence, she said.

Juvenile Justice Board member T. S. Rao, Victory Publishers owner I. Ramkumar, Potti Sriramlu Chaluvadi Mallikarjuna Rao Engineering College president Ch. Mallikarjuna Rao, secretary T. Srinivasu and others were present.
