Indian National Trade Union Congress Women's Wing General Secretary Usharani Gara has been invited for the USA Government’s professional exchange programme - International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).
``As the face of women’s wing of INTUC and as a general secretary of Indian Youth Congress, I am looking forward to the programme which I am sure would me give a global understanding of issues related to women empowerment and help addressing similar issues in India,’’ said Ms. Usharani on Friday.
The IVLP established in 1940, is a professional exchange programme for international opinion leaders. Usharani along with Nageswara Reddy, MLA from Yemmiganur, Kurnool District, will leave for the US on April 4.
The programme has been designed to provide youth leaders and state level officers an overview of the US political system, role and influence of Congress, judiciary, office of President and working of media as well. The programme would also introduce them to the federal system of government in the US, division of authority and responsibility.
The two delegates from Andhra Pradesh would visit Washington DC, Illinois-Chicago, Tucson-Arizona.
