The economy has collapsed due to lopsided policies of the UPA and the life of the common man has become miserable, according to CPI State secretary K. Narayana.
In spite of the state of affairs, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was vigorously pursuing economic reforms, he said. Mr. Narayana was in city to attend the CPI district council meeting here on Saturday. On sidelines of it, he said the UPA government was more committed to protecting the interests of imperialists rather than the common man. The UPA was resorting to black mail politics to retain power. Nuke deal, FDI bills were passed though 13 parties opposed the same.
The Congress-led UPA government was surviving as no political party was ready and interested in mid-term elections but not due to its efficiency or governance.
On the other hand, deep differences were plaguing the NDA. At this juncture, a Third Front under the aegis of the Left parties, either before or after elections, was imminent. The cash transfer scheme was introduced only to crown Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. The scheme would be shelved as soon as he becomes Prime Minister, Mr. Narayana felt.
CPI district secretary Akkineni Vanaja, CPI State Secretariat member Jelli Wilson, State Executive members Suryadevara Nageswara Rao, K. Subba Raju, and city secretary Donepudi Sankar were present.
‘Dismiss Home Minister’
Mr. Narayana sought the dismissal of Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy from the Cabinet for being named as accused No. 4 in the charge-sheet filed by the CBI in the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Wondering how the police were still saluting her in spite of the charge-sheet, Mr. Narayana told mediapersons here that it was unfortunate that the government was trying to provide legal assistance to the “tainted Ministers” instead of punishing them for allegedly being complicit in the misdeeds of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Mr. Narayana said politics stooped to such a low level that people were “virtually begging Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, who is lodged in the Chanchalguda jail, for B forms!”
