‘Unorganised service sector under scanner’

Rent-a-cab services, real estate developers and builders will come into net of sales tax, Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, C.P Rao said here on Tuesday.

The commissionerate spread over five districts of West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore is gathering third party information of assesses in unorganized sector and is auditing the transactions, Mr. Rao said. “We are profiling tax payers and have devised an institutional mechanism to collect service tax from all service sectors,” said Mr. Rao.
