Activists of the Samaikyandhra agitation have asked the Seemandhra Union Ministers and MPs opposing the bifurcation of the State to come back home and extend moral support to the Seemandhra MLAs who are facing severe adversity and pressure with regard to the tabling and discussion on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013.
With just three days to go before the winter session comes to a close, there was no point in the MPs trying to push the no-confidence motion, they opined. Samaikyandhra activists and others, who want the Telugus to be together, felt that it was unfortunate that the MPs who speak Hindi or any of the other Indian language had absolutely no sympathy for the sentiments of the Telugu people.
People lost confidence in Seemandhra Union Ministers and MPs, said the activists protesting the proposed division on the streets.
The Ministers and MPs promised that they would bring the Antony Committee and the Group of Ministers to Seemandhra so that they could record the plight and sentiments of the people, first hand.
However, neither the Antony Committee nor the GoM came to Seemandhra to record the feelings of the people, they pointed out.
Dharnas stagedNGOs and others staged dharnas and rasta roko under the banner of Samaikya Rashtra Parirakshana Vedika to protest against the arrest of Seemandhra employees of the Secretariat at Hyderabad and the way the Bill was tabled in the State Assembly. Engineering Student Joint Action Committee also staged a rasta roko and burnt ‘copies’ of the Reorganisation Bill.
Krishna district Samaikyandhra Political JAC convenor Kolanukonda Sivaji said that the Seemandhra Union Ministers and MPs should organise a meeting with the Seemandhra MLAs to come up with a strategy to counter the pressure being put on them by the Central government and leaders seeking separate Telangana.
