Officials of the Public Health Department of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) conducted raids on Sunday, and seized three mineral water plants which are allegedly running without possessing ISI recognition.
The officials seized Surya Mineral Water Plant, at Sundarayya Nagar, Bhavya Mineral Water Plant, located at Luna Centre and Krishnaveni Charitable Trust, at Raja Rajeswari Peta, for not maintaining quality.
Public Health Department officials also issued instructions to stop the operations of another mineral water plant at Raja Rajeswari Peta and submit the documents immediately, as the matter was pending with the court, said the officials.
Some owners were running the mineral water plants without any permission and were not following the quality causing health problems to the public, said VMC Chief Medical Officer Satyanarayana Raju.
Severe action would be taken action against the owners of the plants, if they run the plants and distribute impure water to the public.
The officials appealed to the public to consume protected drinking water and not to procure water from unauthorised plants.
Assistant Medical Officer Ramakoteswara Rao, Dr. Z. Srinivas and other staff participated in the raids.
