Unauthorised layouts to be removed

The district administration is gearing up to remove all unauthorised layouts. Disciplinary action would also be initiated against officials for dereliction of duties with regard to regularisation of unauthorised layouts.

Addressing a review meeting here on Thursday, district Collector S.A.M. Rizvi said officials had failed to discharge their duties properly. More than 1,000 layouts across the district were yet to be regularised. Of these, 548 were in Vijayawada division, 90 in Machilipatnam division, 110 in Gudivada division, and 254 in Nuzvid division, he said.

Asking the officials to take action against the land owners who did not come forward to regularise their layouts, the Collector wanted officials to submit action taken report within two weeks. He also wanted officials to take necessary steps to remove constructions, roads, drainage etc. in the unauthorised layouts.

Referring to seasonal diseases, Mr. Rizvi asked the officials to ensure that communicable diseases did not spread in villages. A special emphasis should be laid on sanitation and drinking water, he added.
