A two-day convention to showcase pre-engineered and pre-cast construction structures was inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao at K. L. University campus, Vaddeswarama, near here on Friday.

Industry majors such as Kriby, PEBS Pennar, Jindal Group, Pre-CA, Termage, VME Pre-cast, Elematic, Tech-CORE were taking part in the event being organised by the Pre-Engineered Structures Society of India (PSI).

PSI president P. Suryaprakash said pre-cast constructions in building and industrial sector had just started and there was a lot of scope for its expansion to meet the growing demands of the country.

Pre-cast was slowly catching up in India and some of the developers were embracing it to cut short the time period of construction, improve durability of structures and overcome the shortage of skilled labour availability as against the huge requirement of labour in the construction sector.

Pre-cast structure firms from Europe had already entered the country and are supplying equipment, he said. Architects, consulting engineers, builders, developers and government officials from all over the country participated in the business-to-business deliberations. IIA, ACCE (I), SEWC, CREDAI and APREDA supported the event. CREDAI national president C. Shekar Reddy and KLU president Koneru Satyanarayana were present.
