Two killed, 10 injured in accidents

Two persons were killed and ten others suffered injuries in separate road accidents near National Highway 5 near here, in the early hours on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Alluramma (38) and Joseph (21), both natives of Vijayawada. The condition of one the injured is stated to be serious.

According to the police, the first accident occurred when a speeding lorry hit an auto in which a marriage party was proceeding on the highway. Alluramma was travelling in the ill-fated auto. She was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.

Few other women and children suffered injuries in the mishap.

In another accident, an oil tanker hit a two-wheeler, killing Joseph on the spot.

His brother, Venkat Rao, who was the pillion rider, suffered critical injuries and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Police registered cases and took up investigation in both the accidents.
