The Penamaluru police arrested two persons in connection with the murder of K. Venkateswara Rao, a native of Brahmanapalli village in Guntur district.

The accused B. Srinu and his brother-in-law Showry, relatives of the deceased, reportedly developed a grudge against Venkateswara Rao over a property dispute and planned to eliminate him, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gajarao Bhupal.

Accordingly, they brought him to the city outskirts and allegedly smashed his head with a pestle on July 12. Later, they used a sickle to confirm his death. The accused packed the body in a gunny bag, dumped in the fields and fled. The team led by Penamaluru Circle Inspector K. Damodar detected the case.
