Two GRP constables suspended

November 12, 2014 12:49 am | Updated 12:49 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Two constables attached to Government Railway Police (GRP) -- Rajesh and Shafi -- were suspended on graft charges, while inquiry on Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) was under progress.

A few passengers had attacked the TTEs and the railway police when they allegedly demanded money from them in an express train a few days ago.

Later, the passengers lodged a complaint alleging that the TTEs and the police were harassing them for money for carrying luggage, though they possessed valid tickets.

The police who inquired into the allegations placed the two constables under suspension. The South Central Railway officials were probing the charges levelled against the TTEs.
