Telangana Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy said both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should resolve all issues pertaining to water, power and higher education amicably through dialogue and strive for brotherhood between people of the two States.

“The TS government does not intend to create controversies. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is sportive in addressing all issues, but Chandrababu Naidu should also come forward,” Mr. Reddy said here on Wednesday. He was speaking at the memorial meeting of Janata Party leader M.A. Rahman. “Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should prosper and develop like Haryana and Punjab,” he said.

Mr. Reddy added that Telangana was reeling under power shortage, but the government was taking all measures to overcome the crisis. An agreement was signed with the Chattisgarh government for 1,000 MW power, and supply will commence in a couple of months, he said.

In a couple of years, farmers and industry in Telangana can expect 24-hour power supply, he added. The Minister said the TS government laid emphasis on road connectivity from mandals to district headquarters through four-lane projects. “Measures are being taken to construct more flyovers and signal-free junctions to resolve traffic problems in Hyderabad,” he added.

“The TRS is committed to corruption-free governance and wants to make TS the No. 1 State in the country,” Mr. Reddy said. Though the organisers had put up banners welcoming local politicians from members of ruling and Opposition parties for the meeting, none turned up for the event, which was conducted amid heavy security.
