Agricultural fields turning into concrete jungles, vanishing green cover, rapid urbanisation at the cost of disturbing ecological balance and rampant pollution are some of the ill that will follow acquisition of new Capital status by Vijayawada. These adverse effects of rapid urbanisation are already here to see as found out by The Hindu lensman V. Raju. Krishna and Guntur districts, known for farming, are likely to lose more green cover and agricultural lands with this development and departments need to be scattered in the two districts to minimise the impact.
