Atapaka Birds’ Sanctuary wears a festive look with hundreds of tourists and bird watchers thronging the place to watch Painted Storks and Spot-billed Pelicans land in hordes. During the ongoing breeding season the sanctuary, a portion of the Kolleru Lake in Krishna district, is considered as a paradise for Pelicans. The largest number of these birds can be sighted here compared to any other habitat in Andhra Pradesh. Visitors can witness chicks growing on the nests and myriad hues of birds’ life cycle. T. Appala Naidu captures some of the moments.
