Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu on Saturday directed the officials and staff of the health wing to take effective steps to take care of the health of poor people living in the slum areas in the city this summer. He asked them to take the help of corporate hospitals, private nursing homes and clinics in the process.
Speaking after inaugurating a training camp for medical tests at Labbipet meeting hall, Mr. Babu said that the health officials should maintain a high level of alertness to avoid any complications in public health. He said that medical services should be provided to the poor people on a comprehensive scale without giving an impression that there were any gaps.
The training camp in medical tests was held for the staff working at the 22 urban health centres in the city as part of an initiative to make available proper healthcare to all poor families.
Mr. Ravi Babu said advanced medical services that had developed over the years should be brought within the reach of slum dwellers by making joint efforts with corporate and private hospitals.
Chief Medical Officer M. Satyanarayana and district malaria officer Karuna Murthy were present.
