Bookings on all Hyderabad-bound trains full
Passengers, who have been stranded on Guntur railway station premises for the last two days, heaved a sigh of relief as railway services towards Hyderabad were restored on Sunday.
There was a near pandemonium on the station as scores of passengers tried to squeeze their way into crowded compartments. The railway reservation counters were kept open till 8 p.m. to facilitate reservation.
Bookings to all Hyderabad-bound trains - Narsapur Express, Falaknuma Express, Visakha Express, and Narayanadri were reported full.
However, the incoming trains towards Guntur delta and Narsapur remained cancelled on Monday too. They would start at Hyderabad on Monday and reach Guntur by Tuesday morning.
Impact on RTC
The RTC, Guntur region, continues to bear the brunt of the ‘Sakala janula samme' for the fourth consecutive day.
Regional Manager Surya Chandra Rao said six buses belonging to Guntur and Chilakaluripet depots were damaged in stone pelting by the agitators at Choutuppal and Narketpalli.
The revenue loss owing to the strike was estimated to be at Rs.1 crore. Bus services on the Guntur-Hyderabad route, which emerged as the lifeline for the Guntur region, continued to be suspended on Sunday too following the breakdown in talks between employees and the management.
