Traffic crackdown; 157 booked for violations

VIJAYAWADA: The traffic police on Saturday registered 157 cases against violators of road rules at different parts of the city and collected a compounding fee of Rs. 15,100.

Hawkers removed

Under the limits of the Traffic-I police station, the police removed hawkers and wrong parking from places like Canal Road, Railway west booking counter, Kaleswara Rao market, Brahmin Street, BRP Road and surrounding areas.

They have registered 15 cases and levied an amount of of Rs. 1,500 as fine.

In Traffic-II station limits, the police registered 55 cases on Mahatma Gandhi Road, Varadhi junction, Besant Road, Prakasam Road, Fire station, American Hospital Road and surrounding areas and collected Rs. 5,350.

In Traffic-III police station limits, the police registered 13 cases on Karl Marx Road and Sambamurthy Road and collected a fine of Rs. 1,600.

In Traffic-IV police station limits, the police registered 33 cases on Gurunanak Colony Road and collected a fine of Rs. 6,650, according to a police press release on Sunday.
