Trader relieved of cash and gold at gunpoint

An unidentified person robbed a trader in broad daylight and escaped with gold ornaments and cash on Nandigama outskirts in Krishna District on Monday.

The victim, P. Suresh Kumar, a native of Hyderabad, was proceeding to Hyderabad from Vijayawada in a car when the incident occurred.

The accused stopped the car at Gollapudi on Vijayawada outskirts at around 10 a.m. and requested Mr. Suresh Kumar to give lift. When the vehicle reached Hanumanthapalem village, the miscreant threatened the victim with a pistol and took two gold chains, one ring besides some cash and fled.

“The accused spoke in Telugu dialect and escaped towards Telangana State borders. A hunt has been launched to nab the accused,” said the Krishna District police.

Nandigama DSP T. Radesh Murali is investigating the case. Following the incident police intensified patrolling on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State borders.
