Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that the State government was creating an ecosystem for both agriculture and food processing industry. The government policies would give a boost to both sectors, he said.

Participating in World Food India (WFI)-2017 in New Delhi, Mr. Naidu said the government was giving top priority to food security and welfare of farmers as well. “We are providing the inputs, best quality seeds, abundant fertilizers, water and others to promote agriculture in the State. We have achieved 100% soil testing to inform the farmer about the crop. Now, we are going for drones to do soil testing. We are supplying micro nutrients free of cost,” he said.

Stating that he promoted Information Technology (IT) in a big way which gave impetus to growth of Hyderabad and turned into hub of knowledge economy, Mr. Naidu said: “Now, I am promoting agriculture and food processing to create an ecosystem in the State to benefit farmer.”

For the last three years, AP has been focussing primarily on agriculture and food processing mainly on increasing productivity and reducing cost of production, he said.

Tech approach

The Chief Minister said that the government was leveraging all technologies, best practices and knowledge available across the globe to benefit the farmer. The government was using geo-tagging and smartphone applications to diagnose crop health in real-time. “We are closely working with the World Economic Forum on new agricultural vision. We are also creating Farmer Producer Organisations and organising one million farmers in the State,” he said.

Mr. Naidu said that AP offers the best infrastructure, including ports, airports.
