A mega ticket checking drive was undertaken recently on Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway under the supervision Assistant Commercial Manager Ch. Lakshminarasimham yielding Rs.2.58 lakh in penalty.
The Ticket Checking drive was conducted on ticketless travellers on all important Passenger/ Express trains at Eluru station on January 8. The services of 58 Ticket Checking Staff, In-Charge Supervisors, Railway Protection Force and Govt. Railway Police personnel were used during the Mega Checks.
During this time 589 cases of Passengers travelling without valid tickets and carrying un-booked luggage were detected and Rs.2.58 lakh was realised from them. Six passengers, who failed to pay the Railway dues, were prosecuted.
During the current Financial a total number of 594 checks were conducted in all sections of Vijayawada Division. As a result of these checks, 6,18,228 cases of passengers without tickets and carrying un-booked luggage were detected and Rs.1893.22 lakh was realised.
Eighty one passengers who failed to pay the Railway dues were prosecuted.
Sankranti Specials
South Central Railway will run four Special Trains between Secunderabad-Kakinada Port in order to clear extra rush of passengers during the Sankranti festival as per the following schedule:
Train No. 07101 Secunderabad-Kakinada Port Special Train will depart Secunderabad at 11 p.m. on January 11, and 13 and arrive at Kakinada Port at 9.45 a.m. on the next day. The train will arrive/depart Vijayawada at 5.05 a.m. In the return direction, Train No.07102 Kakinada Port-Secunderabad Special train will depart Kakinada Port at 10 p.m. on January 12, and 14 and arrive at Secunderabad at 8.50 a.m. the next day. The Train will arrive/depart Vijayawada at 2.45 a.m./3.00 a.m.
Enroute, these trains will stop in both the direction at Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Nidadavolu, Rajamundry, Anaparti, Samalkot and Kakinada Town stations. These trains will consist of fourteen Sleeper Class coaches and two Second Class Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches, totalling to sixteen coaches.
