Three killed as picnic to Nagarjunasagar turns tragic in Telangana

Three others suffered serious injuries and were said to be in ciritical condition.

A picnic to Nagarjunasagar turned tragic for a group of youth when the autorickshaw they were travelling in met with an accident at Palvai village in Gurrampode mandal, killing three of them. Three others suffered serious injuries and were said to be in ciritical condition.

The youth, who were in their early 20s, were on their way back to their home town, Suryapet, when the auto hit a culvert and fell into the ditch, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Desetti Karthik (22), Suryapalli Chandrakanth (20) and Banoth Nagaraju (20), and the injured as Narla Saidulu (22), MD. Sameer (20), Dheeravath Ramesh (21).

All of them were natives of Jammigadda in Suryapet.

Sub-inspector of Police V.Narayana Reddy said that the youth had left on Friday morning in Sameer's auto to see Nagarjunasagar as the crest gates had been lifted.The mishap occurred when they were returning at around 11 p.m.

A case has been registered.
