Artists performed about 20 folk art forms, including Sri Rama Katha, Kalika nrutyam, savara, kommu koyya and girijan dances, Devarasetty, Satani Vaishnava and Garikavarru shows, chekka bhajana and kolatam, in a Sobha Yatra from the Krishna Circle to the Chennur bus stand in Kadapa town on Saturday, on the eve of the Gandikota festival.
In-charge Collector Swetha Teotia flagged off the yatra and watched the performances. The district administration has made all necessary arrangements for the conduct of the three-day festival with pomp and gaiety at Gandikota in Jammalamadugu mandal, Ms. Teotia said and called upon people to take part.
The festival would help develop Gandikota as a tourist centre and generate livelihood to local people, she said.
Joint Collector II Siva Reddy, Regional Director of Tourism G. Gopal, STEP CEO Mamatha, Deputy Director of Horticulture Prasad, APMIP project director Madhusudana Reddy and Kadapa Revenue Divisional Officer Devendra Reddy and others took part.
