“There is no sincerity amongst the political parties and leaders. Illegal earning and corruption have become rampant. But now, people want leaders who are focussed on development of villages, which is key for the upliftment of the downtrodden,” said Chinna Gollapalem former sarpanch Koppineedi Hanumantha Rao.

Chinna Gollapalem, also known as Pallepalem, is located in Kruthivennu mandal in Krishna district. The seacoast village, located in the middle of Upputeru drain at the point it empties into the Bay of Bengal, found a place on the map about five years ago when a local lad, Revu Mutyala Raju, topped the Civil Services examination.

The villagers struggled a lot for the sanction of roads and the two bridges connecting their place to Machilipatnam and Bhimavaram towns. Earlier, we had to cross Upputeru by boat to go to other villages, and faced a lot of difficulty in emergencies particularly during night, said Mr. Hanumantha Rao.

Congress and Telugu Desam Parties have been ruling the State for some time. I served as Congress party sarpanch thrice and also as a director for a Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS).

There is a need for alternative political party to counter the existing parties in the State, he opined.

I am a follower of Congress party since my childhood. Government had sanctioned Rs. 25 crore each for construction of the two bridges across Upputeru and Rs. 3.5 crore for laying CC roads.

I request the voters to vote for a candidate, who strives for development of the village, Hanumantha Rao said. “There are 14 wards in Chinna Gollapalem panchayat.

The population in the village is about 13,000 of which nearly 5,600 voters are there. The main occupation in the village was fishing and agriculture”, he said.

Congress is fielding M. Veera Raju, TDP candidate for panchayat elections is Nadikurthi Veera Raju and on behalf of YSRC, Chitekala Satyanarayana is in fray.
