Minister for Minor Irrigation T.G. Venkatesh offered full support to traders of the Arya Vysya community. The Minister, participating in the swearing in of the newly-elected office bearers of the Arya Vysya Community here on Sunday, said that he would resolve any problem of traders who belonged to the community.
He said there was a need for people of the community to develop politically. In the first Assembly of the state 40 of the 60 elected legislatures belonged to the Arya Vysya community.
There were six MLAs from the Arya Vysya community in the Assembly today, he said. MLAs of the community should work together to help the Arya Vysyas cutting across party lines, the Minister said.
Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas lauded the local community for extending Rs.5 lakh to 100 merit students from all castes and creeds. He asked the new office bearers to come up with other community welfare programmes. Arya Mahasabha general secretary T. Srinivas officiated over the swearing-in ceremony. The newly-formed committee were blessed by Sri Siva Kshetra Peetadhipathi Srisrisri Siva Swami. Former committee president V. Vasudeva Rao, Arya Vysya Mahasabha vice-president Darisi Vasu and others participated.
