YSR Congress leaders in the district alleged that Telugu Desam Party was engineering defections in their party.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Pamarru MLA-elect and YSRC leader Uppuleti Kalpana said TDP was resorting to mind games and trying to influence YSRC leaders. “We make it very clear that all the 67 MLA’s will stick with YSRC and work under the leadership of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy,” said Ms. Kalpana.
It is morally wrong on TDP’s part to indulge in mind games and influence YSRC leaders. It is high time TDP stops this false propaganda and it was unfortunate that a couple of leaders have fallen prey to TDP’s evil designs, she said.
“We request TDP president Chandrababu Naidu to focus on good governance and fulfil the promises, especially farmers’ loan waiver, made to the people. We will work as a constructive opposition party and fight for the cause of common people,” said Ms. Kalpana. Condemning the TDP’s propaganda, Tiruvur MLA and YSRC leader Rakshananidhi said all YSRC MLAs and those who lost in the elections would stand by the party and its leader. “It is because of Mr. Reddy that many people became MLAs and the focus would now be on strengthening the party,” said Mr. Rakshananidhi.
Vijayawada West MLA-elect Jaleel Khan dismissed reports that he was inclined to join TDP as rumours. “I have no such intentions,” he added.
