TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to begin ‘Atma Gaurava Yatra’ at Pondugula in Dachepalli mandal on September 1 seeking to expose the alleged complicity of Congress and YSR Congress (YSRC) in the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh while trying to explain his stand on the vexatious issue.
His tour is scheduled to cover five Assembly constituencies (Gurazala, Sattenapalli, Pedakurapadu, Tadikonda and Mangalagiri) in as many days starting with Gurazala on Sunday.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the party to welcome their leader at the border with Nalgonda district and proceed to the first major halt at Gurazala before retiring for the day at Dachepalli.
The cadres are in an upbeat mood with the party making impressive gains in the cooperative elections and the good response to ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra had evoked recently. However, the prevailing confusion as to what exactly is the party’s stand on Telangana issue is evident from the way its MP(s) and MLAs resigned to their posts and jumped on to the ‘Samaikyandhra’ bandwagon while Mr. Chandrababu Naidu tried to assuage the feelings of people of both the regions (Telangana and Seemandhra) without clearly saying on which side he stood.
Meanwhile, a large number of security forces are deployed in view of the volatile situation and possibility of supporters of unified State disrupting the former Chief Minister’s programme.
TDP district president and Chilakaluripet MLA Pratthipati Pulla Rao and other leaders have taken the tour as a matter of prestige as public attention will be riveted on what Mr. Chandrababu Naidu says about bifurcation which landed his party in the dock.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has been describing it (the CWC’s decision to carve Telangana) as a conspiracy hatched by Congress party to derive electoral mileage in 2014 by forging a secret pact with the TRS in Telangana and YSRC in Seemandhra.
