“Kiran always used to think about my welfare and health. I had lots of hopes on him. No mother should face this situation,” bemoaned P. Satyavathi, mother of Peddinti Kiran Kumar Sharma, who was washed away in Saryu river at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on July 2.
Kiran, who was learning Vedas, went to the river to perform Sundara Kanda Parayanam along with his colleagues on July 1. While posing for a photograph in the water, Kiran and his friend Chakrapani slipped and drowned. The body of Kiran arrived at his native, Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district on Friday.
The family members and neighbours bid a tearful adieu to Kiran, who used to visit his sister and his relatives Marti Jayalakshmi and Kalavakolanu Veeranjaneya Sharma at Jaggaiahpet from Hyderabad.
“Kiran studied in a local veda patashala , and later settled in Hyderabad. His father, P. Vijay Prasad Sharma died three years ago and Kiran was taking care of his mother since then. We heard of the shocking news and rushed to Uttar Pradesh,” said his brother-in-law Marti Aditya Kumar Sharma.
“My sister lost her only son. The Uttar Pradesh government and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Jaggaiahpet MLA Sriram Rajagopal, Krishna District Collector M. Raghunandana Rao and the media helped us when we were in distress. We request the government to provide some financial aid to my sister,” said Veeranjaneya Sharma, brother of Kiran’ s mother Satyavathi.
