All the faculty members of UG and PG courses of Andhra Loyola College (ALC) attended a two-day orientation programme held on the college premises. The resource persons were Joseph Xavier, former principal of Loyola College, Chennai and presently with Indian School of Business (Bengaluru) and B.S. Poonmudiraj, assistant advisor, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore.

Speaking on the theme "Teacher as professional", Fr. Xavier underlined the importance of a teacher's commitments to competence, conscience and compassion, which are the chief characteristics of the Jesuit education. He dwelt at length on the chief characteristics of a teacher of competence and one of conscience and compassion.

He stressed on the need for a teacher to be a role model for students with his set of values.

Dr. Poonmudiraj said that there was a greater need for quality, equity and availability of higher education to one and all.
