Krishna District Telugu Desam Party leaders will kick-start a 400-km. ‘maha padayatra’ against the UPA decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh on September 2 from Gollapudi in Ibrahimpatnam mandal.

Addressing the TDP party meeting here on Sunday, Krishna District party president Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the walkathon was aimed at appealing to the public to intensify the on going protests against the carving out of Telangana.

TDP senior leaders including Avanigadda MLA-elect Ambati Srihari Prasad offered floral tributes to the photos of Ambati Brahmanaiah, Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu and Lal John Bhasha, who passed away recently.

On Avanigadda by-poll, Mr. Uma Maheswara Rao alleged that the Congress party leaders had deliberately called upon their vote bank to boycott the election and thus poor turn out of voters was recorded.

The Telugu Desam Party leaders and supporters on Sunday congratulated Mr. Hari Prasad, who registered a thumping victory with 61,000 votes majority in the by-election.
