The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will organise a maha dharna and one-day hunger strike demanding the State Government to construct retaining wall (new bund on river bed) to protect the Krishna karakatta dwellers here on October 13.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, former MP Gadde Ramamohan Rao and others said that the TDP would take up agitation on 13th day of every month an important issuing concerning the public.
t would be kick started with hunger strike for retaining wall.
The Congress party, despite being in power for seven years, had utterly failed in addressing the plight of Krishna karakatta dwellers.
It had become a calendar event for them to take shelter at rehabilitation centres as there were no permanent measures to save them from floods. The construction of a retaining wall was a better solution than rehabilitating people every year, they said while releasing a posture on the dharna.
TDP state general secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, urban president Vamsi, general secretary S. Ravindra Varma, senior leader Buddha Venkanna and others were present.
Addressing a press conference separately, TDP state general secretary Varla Ramaiah sought to know why Mines and Geology Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy was left scot-free in the Obulapuram case. Industries and Commerce department former secretary Y. Srilakshmi and Mines and Geology former Director V.D. Rajasekhar names figured as A3 and A4.
However, Ms. Sabitha Indra Reddy who was heading the ministry was let off. The CBI should include her name and other cabinet ministers for their role in the Obulapuram case, he demanded.
