Telugu Desam Party took a dig at the government for constituting committees to oversee implementation of Rachchabanda programme.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that it was illogical to constitute committees on the lines of nominated posts to oversee the implementation of Rachchabanda.

Neither the elected representatives nor the officials concerned have a role. The decision reflected the government's stupidity, he said, adding, “The government issued a G.O. regarding constitution of committees at mandal and urban level. It even appointed Group of Ministers chaired by Kanna Lakshmi Narayana.”

The government was making tall claims that it was redressing the public grievances at Rachchabanda. People were puzzled why the police bandobust was required if the government’s objective was to redress their grievances, he questioned. The people were denied a chance to make even an appeal, he said.

The TDP would organise dharnas at the places where Rachchabanda programme was being organised.

TDP Vijayawada (central) in-charge Bonda Umamaheswara Rao alleged that Congress leader Arava Satyam threatened him at Rachabanda in Division 1.

“The police played a spectator role and did not take any action against Mr. Satyam who is a history-sheeter,” he alleged.

TDP urban president K. Nagul Meera and others were present.
