Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said it will put the flyover construction issue in the party local bodies polls and 2014 election manifesto.

Promising to complete the bridge within a year, if voted to power, he along with his party leaders participated in a ‘maha dharna’ here on Monday.

He demanded the Government construct flyover on NH 9 alongside the ghat road at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Temple.

MP flayed

Launching an attack on Vijayawada Parliament Member Lagadapati Rajagopal, who staged a protest near Prakasam Barrage, to counter the TDP’s agitation, Mr. Naidu said when great constructions like tunnels were being laid under the rivers and sea, how can Mr. Rajagopal say that the construction of flyover is impossible on the ghat road?, he questioned.

Devotees’ problems

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu along with Machilipatnam Parliament Member Konakalla Narayana Rao, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Jaggaiahpet MLA Sriram Tatayya, Kaikaluru MLA Jayamangalam Venkata Ramana, leaders Yerran Naidu, Varla Ramaiah, Nannapaneni Rajyalakshmi, Budha Venkanna, Vallabhaneni Vamshi Mohan and others sat in the dharna.

Addressing the gathering, the TDP president said that Vijayawada is having the largest bus and railway stations, several educational institutions and some thousands of people visit the city every day.

Lakhs of people thronging Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam, during ‘Navarathri Utsavams’ and ‘Bhavani Deeksha’ are facing severe problem due to narrow road at the shrine.

Respects paid

Mr.Naidu paid his respects to Popular Shoe Mart founder Chukkapalli Pitchaiah and consoled the family members at their residence. He met Chukkapalli Pitchaiah’s wife Sarojanamma and family members and garlanded his portrait.
