The TDP has demanded that the State government conduct an inquiry by a sitting judge into the arrests, FIRs, and judgments delivered by courts during the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, TDP State general secretary and Pamarru in-charge Varla Ramaiah said the suspension of Kantimathi, who served as junior judge in Pulinvendula court, by the Governor threw light on, what he called, the darker side of the YSR rule.
The democratic system had collapsed during the Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure in the State, he alleged. Every institution was systematically weakened for vested interests.
The YSR Congress leaders had stooped down to such a level that they were defying the Constitution and casting aspersions on the judiciary, he added. The Opposition’s voice was crushed with an iron hand. The TDP cadre was under attack.
TDP Kadapa district president Satish Reddy had to save the cadre who were arrested illegally by the police, he recalled.
The YSR Congress was adopting a five-step strategy to recruit the leaders, he said.
“It is selecting the weak, feeble, and corrupt leaders in the first step and later leaders such as Y.V. Subba Reddy and Ramakrishna Reddy lure them with money. Then follows a meeting with Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy at Chanchalguda jail,” Mr. Ramaiah said.
The meeting with Y.S. Vijayamma at Lotus Pond would be the penultimate scene in the drama, he alleged. Finally, they would resort to mudslinging on the party which they would leave. “The YSR Congress Party does not appear to be a political party,” he added.
