The Telugu Desam Party has finalised the names of four candidates for the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.
Accordingly, the party has selected senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, B. Ravichandra, T.D. Janardhan and G. Srinivas as its nominees for the four vacancies.
Mr. Chandramohan Reddy’s selection comes on the basis of his experience as former Minister and the manner in which he vocally defended the party line on crucial issues.
Mr. Janardhan had long association with the party and had been given some important responsibilities in the party.
Mr. Srinivas, who is the Chittoor district party president, had been considered as he could act as bridge between the party and the government in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s native district.
The selection of Nellore district TDP president Mr. Ravichandra, according to sources, was a last-minute decision taken by the party president.
The seat was initially offered to Vijayawada former mayor P. Anuradha, but the nominee had to be changed as she reportedly refused to accept the post.
