TDP dares Minister for open debate

May 14, 2013 02:05 pm | Updated 02:05 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has challenged Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy for an open debate on the irregularities and rampant corruption in the district.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that court awarded imprisonment and fine in Fera case to the minister, who also gave wrong affidavit to Election Commission. Former collector S.A.M. Rizvi initiated inquiry into the irregular allotment of gas connections and encroachment of dalit lands in Jupudi village by minister’s family members. Mr. Rizvi and SP Jayalakshmi were transferred as they did not obey the orders of the minister, he said.

The followers of Mr. Parthasarathy collected Rs. 100 to Rs.200 per bag from the black gram farmers at the purchase centre in Uyyuru. The farmers were not getting even Rs.1000 per quintal as the centre was closed down. The minister has utterly failed to meet expectations of the people. The sand quarries were not auctioned though there are 69 in the district. The super specialty hospital is a distant dream for the people. Gannavaram airport expansion, Bandar Port, Kanaka Durga flyover remained on papers. The minister has no time to pursue these issues, he said.

Lashes out at TDP

The Minister came down heavily on the TDP leaders Prabhakar Rao, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao for raising the irregularities, and development in the district. The TDP was ready for a open debate if the Minister were willing to discuss the development in the district, he added.

Nandigama MLA Tangirala Prabhakar, Vijayawada (Central) incharge Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and others were present.
