Streets in different districts were decked up with yellow banners and flexis on Sunday as the Telugu Desam party members celebrated the party foundation day on a grand scale and organised different programmes. Party cadre organised conducted two-wheeler rallies and other programmes, including blood donation camps in connection with the celebrations.
In Krishna district, Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao participated in the party celebrations at Gollapudi. In Vijayawada, MP Kesineni Srinivas, East MLA Gadde Rammohan and other leaders garlanded the statue of former Chief Minister NTR at the NTR Circle in the city.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district unit celebrated the party foundation day in Kurnool and Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy garlanded the portrait of N.T. Rama Rao and paid tributes.
Addressing the party workers, Mr. Krishna Murthy said Rama Rao treated all regions alike and gifted Telugu Ganga for the people of Rayalaseema. Later, the supporters of TDP led by District President Somisetty Venkateswarlu took out a bike rally in the town. At Tirupati, the party cadre was reaching out, both in terms of enrolling membership and also in taking its ideology to the public.
On the occasion of the party’s Foundation Day, Minister for Environment and Forest Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy garlanded the statue of party founder N.T. Rama Rao in Srikalahasti town. Party workers across the district performed ‘Palabhishekam’ (milk bath) to the statues and offered ‘Harathi’ to their beloved founder.
Legislator M. Suguna flagged off a women’s motorbike rally as a symbol of ‘women power’ in Tirupati. Thirty party workers led by R. Sudha Rani, noted ophthalmologist and President of the party’s medical wing, took part in the blood donation camp and offered the blood units to Ruia blood bank head R.R. Reddy.
In Srikakulam, Labour Minister K.Atchannaidu, Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Rammohan and others felicitated the senior party workers and asked the party cadre to highlight the Telugu Desam government’s programmes.
Mr.Atchannaidu said Srikakulam was witnessing all round development with the allocation of huge funds for the backward district.
