Telugu Desam Party leaders in Krishna district have collectively launched relief measures for the flood-hit victims under the banner of NTR Memorial Trust. The TDP leaders from across the district met at Kesineni Bhavan near Benz Circle on Monday morning to discuss a system which they intend to put in place to ensure fair distribution of the relief material among the inundated population.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Ambati Brahmanaiah (Avanigadda), Sriram Rajagopal (Jaggayyapeta), Tangirala Prabhakar (Nandigama) and Dasari Balavardhana Rao (Gannavaram), besides former Chief Whip K. Venkata Rao, former MP Gadde Ramamohan, former MLA Nallagatla Swamidas, leaders Nagul Meera, Kadiyala Raghava Rao and others. As part of an action plan drawn by the Trust members to provide succour to nearly 40,000 families affected by the flood fury, relief material worth Rs. 3 crore, including bed sheets, saris, lungis, towels, rice, red gram and other items have been shifted to Kesineni Bhavan. Party leader Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) has announced a donation of Rs. 35 lakh for the purpose. Other donors include Komma Sivadurga Prasad from Patamata Lanka area (Rs. 5 lakh), former MP Gadde Ramamohan (Rs. 5 lakh), district convener Devineni Umamaheswara Rao (Rs. 5 lakh), TDP State leader K. Venkat Rao (Rs. 2 lakh) and D. Manoj (Rs. 2 lakh), besides a relief of 10 tons of rice given by the party’s polit bureau member D. Kalpana.
