Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has supported the candidature of sitting Graduates MLC Chigurupati Varaprasad for MLC election scheduled on February 21.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Varaprasad said that he took up many programmes to develop the schools and students in Krishna and Guntur districts. To name few, Vidya yagnam, Jai Upadhyaya, Yuva Nirman, Santidevo bhava, Seva yagna, Arogya yagna and vocational training programmes.

“My six years salary and other allowances were given to voluntary organisations that have come forward to adopt the government schools. As many as 1,200 schools across the state benefited with it,” he said.

To inculcate the habit of respecting the teacher among the students, ‘Jai Upadhyaya’ programme was launched. The teachers, working either in private or government school, were felicitated, he said, adding that he would further these activities if elected again.

AP Private Schools Association, Vijayawada Children’s Schools’ and Tutorials Association, Engineering Colleges Managements Association and teachers associations have expressed their solidarity to Mr. Varaprasad.
