Hundreds of management students from various colleges across the State took part in “Prakriya Bizbash-’09”, youth festival organised at the V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) on Thursday, when expert speakers encouraged the youngsters to learn the art of surviving and succeeding in any competitive situation.
While professional events like ‘Biz-odyssey’ (business quiz), ‘Explicate’ (test of team spirit) “Wat’s ur worth” (a stock market game) and ‘Personae’ (personality contest) were meant to test the students’ core skills related to their profession, cultural events like ‘Filmy funda’ (a test of knowledge of Telugu film world), ‘Twinkle toes’ (carousel of dance), ‘Steps in time’ (dancers showcase) and “Prakriya’s ramp” (walk crab fashion) brought out the different kinds of talents of the participants.
The Department of Business Management of the college left everything to the students to conduct the show on their own to give them an opportunity to learn the practical aspects of organising such shows.
Siddhartha Academy vice-president N. Venkateswarlu, industrialist Devineni Madhusudhana Rao, Prakriya group managing director Potluri Krishna Mohan, head of the department of business management N.C.S. Rao and others spoke, while VRSEC principal K. Mohana Rao presided over the inaugural.
Mr. N.C.S. Rao stressed the importance of students using the opportunity given to them in organising the events and learning how to distribute and carry out responsibilities among themselves for making a big event successful. He elaborated on various initiatives taken by them to make management learning inspiring and innovative.
The MBA students enthusiastically spearheaded the activities taken up as part of the show. G. Vamsi Krishna, A. Rakesh Kumar and R. Tirupati Rao, who coordinated the arrangements, said they organised special facilities for the participants coming from outside the city.
Initiative
Mr. Madhusudhana Rao suggested that the students take initiative and learn from experienced people in the industry about the practical aspects of getting success in entrepreneurship. Mr. Krishna Mohan advised the students to pick up courage and come forward with workable projects so that they would get outside support in establishing an industry. “If you come out with brilliant ideas, somebody will be there to support you. Financial aspect is never a criterion,” Mr. Krishna Mohan exhorted.
