'T' State only when situation is conducive: Sarve Satyanarayana

December 25, 2012 01:48 pm | Updated June 15, 2016 10:42 pm IST - GUNTUR:

Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways Sarve Satyanarayana said that the Congress party would grant Statehood for Telangana only when the situation is conducive for it. There are many backward areas in ‘Seemandhra’ like in Telangana and the ruling party will not take a hasty decision as both the regions were like its two eyes, he observed in a chat with media persons at Haailand in Mangalagiri while asserting that the high command was not against the demand for a separate State.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the decision on Telangana Statehood would be taken in a democratic manner with due consultations with the Opposition parties and taking the public opinion into account but even for that time should come. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) was taking credit for the Statehood agitation when in fact it was the people’s sentiment that kept the stir going amidst heavy odds. It was not carried on the shoulders of a few individuals.

The Congress would welcome TRS if the latter seeks to merge itself with the ruling party. Mr. Satyanarayana said YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy would meet with the same fate that befell Lakshmi Parvati after the death of N.T. Rama Rao. It is no wonder that Sharmila is also drawing impressive crowds.
