July 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:22 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

M. Naga Malleswari, who allegedly abducted the baby boy from the incubator in the Old Government Hospital, had conducted a recce before committing the offence.

The woman befriended Raju, a record assistant, and visited many wards, including the Special Care Unit for infants, from where she took away the baby on July 12.

Raju helped the woman in the kidnap and the police are investigating whether the employee took money as stated by Malleswari during questioning.

“Naga Malleswari accompanied Raju in the hospital several times. She also moved alone in the hospital corridors and in the wards to avoid any suspicion,” a senior police officer told The Hindu on Wednesday.Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and other officials handed over the infant to her mother Kalyani after recovering it from Malleswari at her house in Avanigadda, a day after the incident.
