Three Maoists, who were involved in several attacks against the police, including the daring assault on the Chilakaluripet police station, have been provided a new lease of life by the State government.

Superintendent of Police, Guntur Rural, J. Satyanarayana, gave away Rs.4 lakh each to Upputholla Kumari alias Renuka alias Pushpa and Bommanaboyina Akkaiah alias Rajeshwar, and gave Rs.1 lakh to Bommanaboyina Guravaramma alias Nirmala. The Maoists surrendered before the Guntur police in January this year.

The SP said Ms. Kumari was involved in the assault against policemen in Chilakaluripet in 2005, which left six persons dead. Hailing from Veldurthy mandal, she was attracted towards Naxal ideology in 2003 and was involved in a series of incidents beginning with blasting of the house of TDP leader Vasudeva Reddy at Bollapalli in 2004. Along with 40 Maoists, including Sudhakar and Jeevan, she took part in the assault on Chilakaluripet police station.

The SP appealed to all those involved in extremist activities to surrender before the police and start a new life.
