Support continues to pour in for anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare from people of all walks of life here on Thursday.
While politicians such as TDP leader K. Yerrannaidu visited the relay fast camp of the Poura Samaja Vedika, pop singer Smitha also came to the camp to express her solidarity with Anna Hazare.
The pop singer participated in a procession held on M.G. Road in support of Mr. Hazare.
Thousands of citizens, mostly students, participated in the march.
While speaking to media, she said that it was the responsibility of each and every Indian to fight for Jan Lokpal Bill.
She also said that Anna at this age need not fast for so many days as he would be least benefited out of it.
“He is doing it for young India and it is our responsibility to be with him in his struggle to end corruption. Though there are two sides to any agitation, it has been many decades since India has seen a fighter and a leader of this stature.”
Appeal to public
The pop singer requested everyone to come out and become a part of the agitation. Activists of the Pyramid Party of India, led by general secretary Jakka Raghava Rao, expressed support to the crusade against corruption.
The activists participated in the relay hunger strike along with activists of the Poura Samaj Vedika from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
