Student’s suicide bid: case booked against warden

The Tadepalli police booked cases against KLU hostel warden Dhanalakshmi under section 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of woman) after taking the statement of first year student who attempted suicide.

Tadepalli SI D. Naresh Kumar visited the girl who was undergoing treatment in a private hospital here and recorded her statement.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Naresh Kumar said, “The girl in her statement said that she had attempted suicide because the warden insulted her and suspected her character.”

He also said that a complaint lodged by the crew of TV 9 news channel alleging that they were assaulted by KL University staff was registered.

The SI further said that arrests would be made according to the requirement after the investigation.
