Students can now learn through EduSat

The Vigyan Prasar wing, Department of Science and Technology and the Indian Space Research Organisation are providing EduSat programmes (various science sessions) for students at A.P. State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST), Regional Science Centre (RSC) here.

RSC will telecast the EduSat programmes on July 16, 18, 22 and 23.

Clarifying doubts

Students can interact with scientists and experts in the field to clarify doubts, if any, live, said SIT Coordinator J. Dilleswara Rao.

Speaking to The Hindu on Tuesday, Mr. Rao said that Vigyan Prasar sanctioned one Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT) to APCOST, RSC, Vijayawada.

The facility, provided to one Centre in A.P., would benefit thousands of school and college going students.

As part of EduSat, RSC will organise four programmes -- Science writing, agriculture science, microbiology and training on chemistry kit -- for tenth, Intermediate and journalism students, this month.

Live telecast

Interested students are requested to register their names in advance over phone No.0866-2414161. The live telecast of the programmes would be held from 10 a.m. to 4 pm, said the Coordinator.

Disaster management

APCOST is also planning to organise EduSat programmes for Anganwadi Workers, Asha Workers and awareness sessions for students on disaster management, health for adolescent girls, DNA finger printing, cancer and other topics.

“As of now, we are providing interviews in English and Hindi languages enabling students to clarify doubts on related topics with experts in related fields through satellite,” said Mr. Rao.
